Year 3

Our Teachers

Miss Zimmer (3BZ)

Prior to graduating from Birmingham City University with a BA (Hons) In Primary Education in December 2013, I worked in various office environments, both in Germany and the UK.  Since I qualified from university, I worked on a supply basis in various schools across the West Midlands.  This gave me experiences of working in a range of socio-economic areas as well as teaching EAL children. Since joining Ash Green Primary Academy, I taught Year 4, Year 5 and I have been teaching Year 3 now for two years.  There have been many highlights in my career so far, but learning about and performing our adaptation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet at the New Vic Theatre was my personal favourite.  I am excited to be teaching Year 3 as I am able to instil my knowledge of previous year groups in children’s learning.  As a parent of two grown up daughters, I understand the challenges families face.

Miss Bullock (3KB)

After concluding my American Studies and English degree at Keele University in 2011, I went on to begin my primary teaching journey by carrying out a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. At Edge Hill University, I had the experience of working in a culturally diverse school and was able to gain an understanding of supporting children with English as an additional language. I also had the chance to teach within a large Special Education school and both of these experiences have given me knowledge and skills that I apply to my daily teaching today. I chose a career in teaching, as I wanted to make a positive impact on children's learning, increase their desire to learn and enable them to become confident and independent lifelong learners. Throughout my career, I have enjoyed working with colleagues and senior leaders to improve and reflect on best practice.  I have taught both KS1 and KS2 at Ash Green Primary Academy since 2015, and have been History subject leader since September 2019. Both staff and children at Ash Green Primary Academy work together to make it such an inspiring and rewarding place to teach and to learn.
