Miss Darby (2AD)
I want children to be inspired by learning, engaged in the learning process and to excel in all that they do. I also want to instil a love of learning in children, so that they will always have a desire to grow and develop.
Throughout my teaching career I have had the opportunity to work in a wide range of schools from inner city to small rural village schools. I have a specialism for Early Primary education and have taught children from Nursery right up to Year 2. Before joining the Ash Green team, I was a Religious Education and Worship Leader in a controlled Church of England First School in which I developed the teaching and understanding of Religious Education and Christian Values across the school. I have developed a fantastic knowledge and creative approach to the Early Years and Key Stage One curriculum; with a particular passion for phonics! Since joining Ash Green I have become involved with the school’s PTFA and have enjoyed working with members of the school community to organise fundraising events.
Mrs Firkins (2KF)
Last year, I qualified as a teacher after being in schools for 10 years as a support assistant. My past experience has been in various classes from Nursery to Year 5 and nurture. I am passionate about children achieving their full potential and mastering the skills required so this can be achieved.
I started at Ash Green in October 2017 and have been welcomed by the team, parents and the super stars in Year 1. I look forward to continuing on their learning journey in Year 2.
