Year 2

Miss Shannon (2ES)

I feel privileged to spend my days working with children and helping them to develop a love of learning. I’ve been a class room teacher for over 20 years, and I’ve worked in a variety of schools; First, Primary and Middle schools. I worked as a supply teacher for a year to get more experience in a wider variety of settings, and luckily felt very at home working here at Ash Green, so I stayed!

I graduated from Oxford Brookes University with a BEd, and later on in my career, I gained a MEd in Educational Leadership from Staffordshire University. This moved me forward into school leadership, where I became an Assistant Headteacher, Acting Headteacher and a SENCo. However, I missed my time in classroom so that’s why I’m back teaching in Year 2.

I love to see the sparkle in children’s eyes when they ‘get it’ and feel immensely proud of the progress I’ve seen in the thousands of children I’ve worked with over the years. Teaching is such a rewarding job and it gives me the opportunity to learn every day from the children I work with. The children at Ash Green make me proud every day and remind me why I became a teacher.

Miss Robinson (2AR)

I joined Ash Green in March 2015. Prior to this, I have worked in four very different schools and in total I have 12 years teaching experience. In my previous school I was Maths and Key Stage Leader and during my teaching career I have worked in EYFS, KS1 and KS2. I have also held Science and PE leadership roles during my teaching career.

I began teaching after finishing University in Higher Education where I enjoyed three years in the agri-food marketing department at Harper Adams agricultural college. I then moved outside education, working for ten years as a brand manager for Co-operative retail services and for Molson Coors as Grolsch and then Coors Light Brand Manager. Twelve years ago I successfully changed direction and completed a work based GRTP teaching programme which enabled me to teach in Primary Education. Having children who have been through Primary school recently, this has helped me to understand children of this age well. I am a very dedicated individual who is passionate about ensuring that all children can achieve in a rich and stimulating learning environment.
