A Whole‑School Commitment to Raising Aspirations
Since introducing our annual Careers Day in 2022, Ash Green has developed a comprehensive, year‑round approach to careers education that inspires pupils to think ambitiously about their futures. Our aim is to broaden horizons early, helping children understand that their learning has real‑world purpose and that their future pathways are full of possibility.

Meaningful Encounters With the World of Work
Throughout the year, pupils meet a wide range of visitors who share their roles, tools, skills and experiences. These include emergency services, community workers, engineers, musicians, designers, charity leaders and many more. Children engage in Q&A sessions, explore equipment, and learn how different jobs contribute to society.

Staff also share their own career journeys, demonstrating that pathways are varied and personal. These stories help pupils understand that careers evolve over time and that determination and resilience open doors.

Curriculum Links That Bring Learning to Life
Careers education is embedded across subjects. Teachers highlight how knowledge and skills in science, art, history, languages and technology are used in real professions. Learning journeys include purposeful opportunities to explore roles connected to each topic, helping children see the relevance of what they learn.

Children also take on leadership roles such as playground leaders, lunchtime helpers and classroom responsibilities. These experiences develop communication, teamwork and problem‑solving skills that mirror workplace expectations.
Careers Day: A Celebration of Ambition
Careers Day remains a highlight of the school year. Every child dresses as their chosen aspiration and takes part in workshops, assemblies and discussions that spark curiosity and ambition. Visitors meet with pupils to share their expertise, and children explore a wide range of professions through themed lessons.

Expanding Impact Through Themed Weeks and Events
To deepen subject relevance, we now link visitors and career‑related activities to key themed weeks such as:
- Science Week
- Mental Health Awareness Week
- Design & Technology Week
- World Music Day
- Sports Days
- French Day
- Gratitude Service (charity and community roles)
This approach ensures pupils meet adults who use subject‑specific skills every day, strengthening their understanding of how learning connects to real careers.
