Hello everyone at Ash Green! I am very excited to join the team here at Ash Green and becoming a part of your community.
I previously taught at a school in Stafford since completing my teacher training with University of Derby in 2020. Prior to this, I worked as a nurse in the A&E department at both our local hospitals. During my time at my previous school, I have been lucky enough to lead music and bring my passion for this into the school when it was missing music in the curriculum. I have previously sung in bands and I am hoping that one day I will be able to do this again.
I have 3 children, so when I am not teaching I am usually found taking them to their various hobbies or riding rollercoasters at theme parks!
For me, working with children was always something that I should have pursued and I am so happy that I made that leap into teaching and that I get to share the next part of my teaching career with the children here at Ash Green. I would describe myself as caring, compassionate, organised and resilient. I aspire to create a nurturing environment where children love to learn through self-discovery and engagement.
I’ve been at Ash Green for quite a while – getting on for forty years, in fact! Prior to this, I worked as a supply teacher for twelve months and it was in this capacity that I came to Ash Green back in 1979. I soon became a permanent member of the Ash Green family and started teaching in Reception as that was where the need was at the time: I’m actually middle school trained. I have now worked in every year from Reception to Year 6 and have, over the years, taught well over a thousand of Trentham’s children. It is a source of joy (and not a little pride) to me that I’m now teaching the children of many of my previous pupils. At present, I am one of the Year 6 teachers and also Key Stage 2 leader. For me, as for all of the staff at Ash Green, the children are the centre of everything and I am passionate about providing them with both the very best education they can have and the life skills they need to become happy and fulfilled citizens able to contribute to society.
